Following the opening of land borders, foreign registered vehicles are advised to use the permitted road ASEAN Highway 150 or AH150.

Permission to use the Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien (SHOAS) Bridge is limited to vehicles registered under Classes I, III, IV and VI in Brunei Darussalam.

However, for commercial vehicles registered as Classes II and V in Brunei Darussalam, a Bridge Use Permit must be obtained from the Brunei Bridge Authority (BBA).

This was stated by the SHOAS Bridge Management Committee, jointly chaired by the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) and the Ministry of Development (MoD), who informed the public about the use of the SHOAS Bridge as well as based on the initial media conference in March 2020.

They also informed the public that the Public Works Department (JKR) is responsible for the management and maintenance of the use of the bridge, with the assistance of agencies interested in enforcement, security and safety.

The maintenance of the SHOAS Bridge is guided by logistical methods including patrols along the bridge, monitoring through closed circuit cameras (CCTV) and in the near future, Intelligent Transport System.

Users must abide by the speed limit of 100 kilometre per hour (km/h) for normal vehicles and 80km/h for commercial vehicles.

The BBA will close the bridge when deemed necessary, such as during unfavourable weather conditions or for any matter that causes the bridge to be unusable. Cyclists and pedestrians are not allowed to use the bridge.
