His Royal Highness Prince (Dr) Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) launched the UBD Convocation Festival 2022 on Thursday.

His Royal Highness also officiated the Pro-Chancellor Arts Centre, where the week-long festival is held, and the UBD Mini Gallery.

His Royal Highness was welcomed on arrival by Minister of Education and Chair of UBD Council Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh and UBD Vice-Chancellor Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle.

Minister of Transport and Infocommunications and Deputy Chairman of UBD Council Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, UBD Council members, UBD principal officers, staff and students were also present.

His Royal Highness consented to receive a pesambah from the Student Representative Council of UBD Students’ Association (PMUBD) during the event.

The event is a festival preceding the university’s 34th convocation to showcase innovation and environmental technology projects by its students and alumni.

The event, hosted by the Student Affairs Section and PMUBD with assistance from the Office of Promotion and Events Management (OPEM), is themed ‘Integrating Nature and Technology for a More Sustainable Future’.

The festival began on Thursday and will come to a close on August 18, while the convocation ceremony will take place on August 22 at the Chancellor Hall.
