A man survived a road collision after his SUV was pinned by an overturned lorry laden with earth and rocks on Tuesday, in what is being described as “nothing short of a miracle”.
Pictures of the horrific accident near the Damuan traffic light junction went viral on social media.
Fifteen firefighters from the Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) Fire Station and special squad team were mobilised to the scene at 10.04am, the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) said.
Led by DSO Ibrahim bin Haji Omar, the team arrived to find the SUV driver stuck in his vehicle.
Members of the public assisted as a crane hoisted the lorry, allowing firefighters better access to the SUV.
Special tools were used to extract the victim, who was swiftly ferried by ambulance to Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital.
The lorry driver had exited the vehicle before the firefighters arrived.
Station Commander of BSB Fire Station ASFR Nazri bin Haji Anuar was also present.
In light of the incident, the FRD reminded motorists to ensure their vehicles are road worthy and to abide by road rules.
