With Tutongku Ceria making a comeback over the weekend since its last event in December 2020, roads leading to Pekan Tutong were closed to accommodate the public, who were seen rollerblading, strolling along the waterfront, browsing items sold and visiting a bird show.

The two-day event, jointly organised by the Tutong Municipal Department, Tutong District Office, Tutong District Development Body and Creative, and AIZ Management, began on Saturday.

Its opening ceremony on Sunday was marked with a flagging-off of a group of cyclists, Amazing Race participants and Jalan Santai activity by Acting Tutong District Officer Ajmin bin Haji Meludin.

Deputy Permanent Secretary (Laws, International and Research) at the Ministry of Home Affairs Haji Ahmad Nizam bin Dato Paduka Haji Ismail, attended as the guest of honour and toured the Dudun Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) and the One Village, One Product (1K1P) bazaar.

The deputy permanent secretary also presented prizes to the Amazing Race winners.

Tutongku Ceria was first organised on April 16, 2017 and went on a hiatus due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

It is held to enliven Pekan Tutong and provide an opportunity for the district’s residents to engage in recreational activities and strengthen its socio-economy.

It is also hoped to contribute to the development of Tutong’s municipal area.
