Black Arrows 1 emerged champions in the men’s category of the Asaad Fastpitch Softball Tournament 2022 after defeating runners-up Gunners 6-1 in the final at the Softball Arena of the Jerudong Sports Complex on Sunday.

 

Foreign team Honeybees from Miri, Sarawak won the women’s category after recording a 10-3 victory over second-placed Divas.

 

PLK Zombies and Black Arrows Diamond claimed third place in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively.

 

Permanent Secretary (Sports) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud presented the prizes.

 

Players were also feted with individual accolades in recognition for their outstanding performances.

 

Mohd Afnan of Black Arrows 1 was the most awarded male winner after scooping the Most Valuable Player and Best Pitcher awards, with Haifa Chin binti Ishak of Honeybees the most decorated women’s player after winning the Most Valuable Player, Best Pitcher and Best Hitter awards.

 

Tsunami’s Kento Yamada was awarded the Best Infielder for men while Nurathirah of Honeybees won the Best Infielder for women’s award.

 

Glenn Gueverra Reyes contributed to the Black Arrows dominance in both individual and team honours after picking up the Best Outfielder award.

 

Honeybees enjoyed a clean sweep of awards as Angelina Chew walked away with the Best Outfielder award, while the Best Rookie award went to Nurhidayah binti Boh.

 

Kamikaze’s Haji Sofian bin Haji Hamdan brought home the Best Hitter award for men while Dexter Poh of Black Arrows 2 received the Best Rookie Award for men.

 

Major (Rtd) Wan Mohd Tambrin Sah bin Haji Suhaili of Gunners collected the Best Senior Player award for men while Wan Rahmani of Divas won the Best Senior Player award for women.

 

Also present was Brunei Amateur Softball and Baseball Association (BASBA) President Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Pahlawan Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mohd Jaafar bin Haji Abdul Aziz.

 

Organised by Black Arrows, nine teams took part in the four-day tournament, including two foreign teams from Miri, Sarawak.
