COVID transmission rate remains low: Minister (12.09.2022)

Brunei Darussalam experienced a slight increase in the number of new COVID-19 cases last week whereby an average rate of about 179 cases per day compared to 169 cases per day in the previous week. However, the infection trend shows transmission remains low.

 

A total of 51,405 ART test results were uploaded to the BruHealth application within one week of which 2.4 per cent were positive results.

 

This was shared by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar in the weekly press conference on Monday.

 

Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham revealed that 166 new cases were reported on Monday, of which 164 cases were the results of ART tests and two cases from 335 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours.

 

There are no cases in Category 5 requiring treatment in the inten-sive care unit, while two cases are in Category 4 requiring respiratory assistance and under close monitoring.

 

As of September 11, the minister said the rate of vaccination coverage of COVID-19 in the country remains high with 78.2 per cent of all citizens and residents having received the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 10.1 per cent having been administered the fourth shot.

 

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof and Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah were also present.
