The second batch of the Brunei Darussalam national contingent for the upcoming 20th Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2022 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia left the country on Tuesday.
The contingent comprises 20 members including 13 athletes and seven officials led by Chef de Mission Umi Kalthum binti Haji Abdul Karim.
Permanent Secretary (Sports) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud saw the team off at the Brunei International Airport and offered advice to the national contingent.
Malaysian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Dato’ Raja Reza bin Raja Zaib Shah was also present at the airport.
This year’s edition will see the country take part in five sports- aquatics (swimming), karate, petanque, pencak silat and wushu.
Brunei Darussalam first joined Sukma in 1996. The last time Brunei took part was in 2018 in Perak.
The next batch of the national contingent will be leaving the country today. The Sukma will be held around Lembah Klang and Langkawi from September 16 to 24.
