His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa‘adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam attended a reception hosted by His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Consort Camilla at the Buckingham Palace, London, United Kingdom (UK) on Sunday.
Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.
At the reception, which was also attended by members of royal families; heads of states and guests from across the world, His Majesty expressed his deep sorrow over the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the mother of His Majesty King Charles III, in which citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam also mourn the passing of an able and distinguished queen, by virtue of her character.
The close and long-standing relations between His Majesty and the late queen had been established many decades ago, whereby Their Majesties often met to discuss and exchange views on matters of mutual interest.
At the reception, His Majesty attended a joint session with His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Consort Camilla.
The session was also joined by King of Jordan His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein; Emperor of Japan His Majesty Emperor Naruhito; and President of the United States of America Joe Biden. His Majesty King Charles III was proclaimed as the new king of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland after the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
His Majesty, on Sunday arrived in London, to attend the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, held on Monday at Westminster Abbey. On arrival at Stansted International Airport, His Majesty was welcomed by Deputy Lieutenant Simon Brice as the special representative to His Majesty King Charles III. Also present to greet His Majesty on arrival were Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof; and High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to the United Kingdom and Eire First Admiral (Rtd) Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad.
