A 38-year-old Malaysian man, in possession of smuggled e-cigarettes and vape items, ordered to settle a BND97,000 fine by the Magistrate’s Court met his 3pm deadline on Wednesday.
Acting Senior Magistrate Dewi Norlelawati binti Haji Abdul Hamid ordered Kong Han Yuen to serve 30 months’ jail in default of payment after he pleaded guilty to possessing 199 vape juice, 89 mod, e-cigarettes, 94 vape accessories and BND9,849 and SGD55 cash from sales of the contraband.
The Customs prosecutor informed the court that Customs preventive officers inspected the defendant’s house in Kampong Kilanas at 2.58pm on October 29, 2021. The court ordered the e-cigarettes destroyed and cash forfeited to the state.
