The Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (DEPS) of the Ministry of Finance and Economy yesterday announced that its Consumer Affairs Unit announces the upgraded mobile application ‘PenggunaBijak’ to meet consumer’s demands for daily usage.

The upgrading includes user experience and visibility, giving users an added value in interactive functions including search, suggest, sort and filter in English and Malay languages. It also sports a new facade and a more systematic information line up.

PenggunaBijak serves as an information portal for unethical business practices under the Consumer Protection Order, maximum prices for items listed under the Price Control Act, and also weekly prices for staple items with supervised costs.

The upgrade also boasts the 1-2-Compare which enables consumers to compare prices on items, voluntarily shared by retailers. Some 180 household items have been listed on the application. Other features include tips through articles, posters, guidelines, videos and additional guides.

Complaints can also be filed through the application in a more efficient way. The mobile application was first introduced in 2016 and has seen 36,000 downloads through Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store.
