Around 7,000 cases of influenza-like illnesses were reported over the last few weeks, said Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar during the COVID-19 press conference on Monday.

The minister reminded the public to continue with preventative practices and control for respiratory infections due to the current trend of flu-like cases.

Those experiencing diarrhoea should visit hospitals for further diagnosis and treatment, said the minister.

“Days of experiencing diarrhoea may lead to an electrolyte imbalance and further health complications,” he said.

The minister said individuals experiencing flu-like symptoms should isolate themselves from others.

Other preventive measures include wearing a face mask and frequently washing hands with soap or disinfectant.

The minister said students who are experiencing symptoms should not attend school to prevent any risk of infection.

Individuals aged 60 and above and individuals with chronic illnesses such as cardiovascular disease or diabetes, are also advised to get an influenza vaccination once every year, he said.

Meanwhile, he requested the public to continue to upload their antigen rapid test results for COVID-19, whether positive or negative, through the BruHealth app.
