Over 400 new COVID-19 cases reported (17.10.2022)

COVID-19 cases in the Sultanate continued to rise, with 417 new cases reported on Monday.

 

Some 414 cases were from reported antigen rapid test (ART) results and three are the result of 123 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours.

 

The latest statistics were revealed by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar in the weekly press conference on the COVID-19 situation in the country.

 

Meanwhile, the trend in the number of reported cases showed an increase.

 

The average daily rate of cases last week was 388 cases per day, compared to 307 cases per day in the previous week. A total of 40,321 ART results were uploaded to the BruHealth app within the week, of which 6.7 per cent were positive test results.

 

He also revealed that there are no cases in Category 4 and 5 requiring treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), respiratory assistance or close monitoring.

 

As of October 16, he said, “The rate of vaccination coverage of COVID-19 in Brunei Darussalam remains at a high level with 78.6 per cent of citizens and residents of this country having received the third dose of the vaccine and 10.7 per cent also having received the fourth dose.”

 

Also in attendance at the press conference was Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin.
