The Sultanate continued to record an increase in influenza cases and influenza-like infections (ILI) over the past week.
Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar in the weekly press conference said, “Epidemiological monitoring found that the number of influenza cases and ILI increased in the past week with as many as 8,033 cases. This exceeds the number of cases from February to March and June to July this year which were between 5,000-6,000 cases per week.”
The minister reminded the public to take preventive measures such as self-isolation if experiencing signs of infection, seeing a doctor if signs of infection persist or worsen, and getting the influenza shot, especially for those over the age of 60 or with health problems.
