A total of BND8,200.28 was raised in the ‘meal for a cause’ campaign for PawsUp, a local hospital and rehabilitation centre for stray animals, last Sunday.

The fundraiser at Pureland Vegetarian House in Kiulap, which provided a vegetarian buffet with all proceeds going to PawsUp to help cover costs, saw encouraging response from the public.

PawsUp founder Jay Lau said, “Our corporate social responsibility partner Pureland Vegetarian House and event organiser George Lim are passionate and committed to the cause, which are critical to our success.”

He added, “By hosting a meaningful and clean eating event, they epitomise this passion and our rescues fully benefit from their time and effort.

“We extend our gratitude to everyone who dined in for a good cause. Together, Brunei loves strays.”

He reiterated that every month the animal hospital needs around BND19,000 to cover the cost of spaying stray cats and dogs.

He also hoped to increase permanent public support to help the animal hospital through monthly donations for sustainability.
