Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC) marked another milestone as it officially launched the Nuclear Cardiology Services on level 1 of its premises on Tuesday.
To officiate the new service, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held and completed by special guests Chairman of the Board of Directors of PJSC and Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of PJSC and Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar.
The Nuclear Cardiology Service represents PJSC’s continuous efforts towards enhancing the capability of Brunei Darussalam’s healthcare system and providing the best care for patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases. With this, clinicians are able to get information regarding blood flow to the heart and can assess the cardiac functions.
“With nuclear cardiology techniques we can diagnose and differentiate patients in whom medical management is helpful or any intervention like CABG or stenting is required.”
The special guests with Executive Director Dr Haji Mazrul Adimin bin Haji Awang Besar, Medical Director Dr Meera Sahib Kabeer and TBCC Director Dato Seri Laila Jasa Dr Babu Sukumaran visited the nuclear medicine department and radiopharmaceutical production facility.
Department Head of Nuclear Medicine Dr Hamid Naseer highlighted the existing services in the department, and emphasised the need for expanding nuclear services for peaceful application of nuclear materials in Brunei Darussalam for providing care to cancer and cardiology patients.
