The Magistrate’s Court on Thursday ordered a Bangladeshi to settle a BND5,000 fine, or serve five months’ jail in default, for possessing smuggled cigarettes.
Lokman Hossain, 47, pleaded guilty to possession of three packets and six sticks of cigarettes.
The Customs prosecutor informed Magistrate Syaffina binti Shahif that the defendant was found in possession of the cigarettes at a commercial building in Kampong Sengkurong on March 13 during an inspection.
