Brunei athletes join SEA Deaf Games 2022 (21.11.2022)

Brunei Darussalam’s first contingent of six hearing-impaired athletes and officials left the country on Monday for the 1st SEA Deaf Games 2022 taking place until November 27 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

 

Permanent Secretary (Sports) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud and officials from the ministry sent off the contingent at Brunei International Airport.

 

The hearing impaired athletes are Muhammad Aslam bin Mohd Hassan, Haji Md Zulkhairi bin Haji Md Tahir and Md Amiruddin bin Haji Md Zain competing in the athletics while Haji Mohamad Zin Hasim bin Haji Umar, Mohammad Nazri bin Haji Mahal and Md Hariz bin Hassan are taking part in 10-pin bowling.

 

Brunei contingent Chef de Mission Khairul Anwar bin Haji Jofari through interpreter Dr Hajah Norbayah binti Haji Shahminan said the athletes have been training since July and they hope to bring glory to the Sultanate. He expressed appreciation to the government, the ministry and the hearing-impaired association for sending the athletes to the games.

 

Other members of the contingent are Head of Secretariat Bakhtiar bin Haji Buntan, Relations Officer Muhamad Hafizuddin bin Haji Alidi, Physiotherapist Emran bin Narudin, Athletics Coach Azmizie bin Abdul Rahman and 10-pin Bowling Coach Pengiran Haji Saiful bin Pengiran Haji Md Yunos.
