Brunei Darussalam recorded two more deaths with one considered non-COVID related and one under investigation. This brings the death toll since March 2020 to 111 with 61 COVID-related fatalities.

 

This was said by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at a press conference on Monday.

 

The minister also revealed that one case had several health problems and the cause of death for another is still being ascertained.

 

The Sultanate recorded 2,819 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, bringing the total number of cases to 37,798. Of the cases, 2,111 were from antigen rapid test (ART) screenings and 708 from 2,823 RT-PCR tests performed in the past 24 hours.

 

There were 1,179 cases declared recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 20,583 and 17,104 active cases.

 

The bed occupancy rate at isolation centres is nine per cent (212 patients) while 16,892 positive cases are undergoing home isolation.

 

Eight cases are in Category 4, requiring oxygen assistance and under close monitoring while no patients are in Category 5.

 

There are currently 138 active clusters with no new clusters at business premises and public places.

 

As of February 20, over 94 per cent of Brunei population had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with 51.3 per cent administered the third dose.

 

No violations were recorded during the movement restriction from midnight to 4am on Monday.
