Brunei Darussalam will begin administering COVID-19 booster shots to children aged 12-17 on April 16, said Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar during a press conference on Sunday.

The minister said children in the age group can book slots for a third dose if three months have passed after receiving the second dose of the vaccine. Bookings can be done through the BruHealth app starting noon on April 15.

The National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19 for the age group began November 8 last year, where an estimated 40,000 children were eligible for the jab.

For the month of Ramadhan, vaccination centres nationwide will operate from 8.30am to 1pm Monday to Thursday and Saturday, and close every Friday, Sunday and public holiday.

Last November, Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman said that 37,089 or 97 per cent of students from education institutions under the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Religious Affairs, as well as private and international schools, had received the first dose.
