Brunei recorded 250 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, bringing the national tally of confirmed cases to 139,061. Of the new cases, 230 cases were from antigen rapid test (ART) results uploaded onto the BruHealth app and 20 were results of 883 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours.
One COVID-19 fatality was reported in the past 24 hours, but was categorised as death not due to COVID-19.
This was shared by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at the daily press conference yesterday.
He said one case is in Category 5, requiring treatment in the intensive care unit, while two cases are in Category 4 and require oxygen assistance and are under close monitoring.
In light of the passing of the COVID-19 case, the minister said, “On behalf of the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the people of Brunei Darussalam, I would like to express our deepest condolences to the case’s family. May the case’s soul receive blessings and be placed among the pious.”
Meanwhile, 130 cases have recovered, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 136,313, he said.
With the latest number of infections, there are 2,532 active cases where 45 are being treated at hospitals, while 2,487 cases are undergoing home self-isolation.
Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong also attended the press conference.
