Brunei Darussalam recorded 176 new COVID-19 infections on Sunday, raising the national tally of confirmed cases to 140,023.

 

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar revealed this at the daily press conference on Sunday.

 

Of the new cases, 143 were detected through antigen rapid tests (ARTs) and 33 from 1,043 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours.

 

Some 236 cases were declared recovered bringing the number of recoveries to 138,403.

 

There are 1,402 active cases with 50 receiving treatment at hospitals and 1,352 undergoing home self-isolation. One Category 5 case is receiving treatment at the intensive care unit and one Category 4 patient requiring oxygen assistance is under close monitoring.

 

In the past 24 hours, one patient passed away and has been categorised as death due to COVID-19.

 

Meanwhile, 1,693 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered to children aged five to 11 on Saturday, said the minister, bringing the number of children in the age group who have received the vaccine to 11,183 or 26.1 per cent of the demographic.

 

Some 62.8 per cent of Brunei have received three doses of the vaccine.
