An Indonesian maid who ran from her employer since 2022 was arrested by the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) enforcement team and produced in court on Tuesday where she was sentenced to serve jail for five months for overstaying her employment pass.
Magistrate Syaffina binti Shahif also ordered 30-year-old Mia Marisa to settle BND800 in fines, or risk serving another month in default of payment.
Immigration Prosecutor Adi Yusra Adanan revealed in court that the defendant had fled from her employer in March 2022, where she had since worked on a freelance basis to earn a living.
