A 25-year-old local man denied charges of armed attack, murder and theft in the High Court on Tuesday.

 

Mohamad Khairulnizam bin Ali Noh denied the first charge of attacking a man by cutting his neck with a knife between 7.30pm and 8.07pm on October 4, 2017 at a parking lot in Batu Satu.

 

He also claimed trial to a charge of theft of a vehicle from a 70-year-old woman at Kampong Tanjong Nangka between October 5 and 9, 2017.

 

The third and fourth charge contested by the defendant alleges him of murdering the 70-year-old woman and a 23-year-old woman on the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Highway between October 5 and 10, 2017.

 

The defendant is represented by defence counsel Haji Zainidi bin Haji Abdul Hamid on legal aid.

 

Chief Justice Dato Seri Paduka Steven Chong, assisted by Judicial Commissioner Muhammed Faisal bin Pehin Datu Juragan Laila Diraja Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Kefli, adjourned the case to May 11 for trial dates to be fixed.

 

Deputy public prosecutors Datin Paduka Hajah Suhana binti Haji Sudin, Shamshuddin bin Haji Kamaluddin and Mohd Qamarul Affiyan bin Abdul Rahman represented the public prosecutor.
