The total number of active COVID-19 cases in Brunei Darussalam has dropped to under the 900 mark with 891 cases. Of the active cases, 20 are receiving treatment at hospitals and 871 are undergoing home self-isolation, said Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at the daily press conference on Wednesday.
A total of 126 new COVID-19 infections were reported on Wednesday, while there were no reports of COVID-related deaths in the last 24 hours.
Of the new cases, 115 cases were results from antigen rapid test (ART) and 11 were results of 765 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours. The total number of cases reported in the Sultanate now stands at 141,531.
The minister said there are two cases in Category 5, requiring intensive care unit treatment, while one case is in Category 4 requiring oxygen assistance.
A total of 173 cases recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 140,422.
Meanwhile, Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham added that 1,314 doses of vaccine have been administered to children aged five to 11, bringing the total number of vaccinations to 18,643 doses which is 43.4 per cent.
Some children in the age group have started receiving the second dose of the vaccine where 346 doses have been administered, covering 0.8 per cent of children on Wednesday.
The coverage rate for the Sultanate’s population who have received three doses of the vaccine is at 64.7 per cent.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin also attended the press conference.
