Brunei Darussalam’s national football team will enter the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against heavy favourites Indonesia at a worst possible form after they were handed a 10-0 defeat by Hong Kong in a friendly match at the Hong Kong Stadium on Monday.
The previous occasion when the senior team lost by double-digits was in April 2001 when they were romped 12-0 by the United Arab Emirates during a FIFA World Cup qualifier at home at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.
After they were convincingly beaten by Malaysia Super League outfit Sabah FC on home soil last Wednesday, it was perhaps best that the home fans were spared first hand on witnessing the team’s showing in what was a first meeting in the international scene in 38 years.
