Child vaccination rate reaches 57.2pc

231 new COVID-19 cases were detected on Sunday, 224 of which were results from rapid testing and seven from 338 RT-PCR tests performed in the past 24 hours.

 

The national tally of confirmed cases now stands at 142,858 cases.

 

The minister said there are no patients in Category 5 requiring intensive care, while two patients in Category 4 are under close monitoring and requiring respiratory assistance.

 

The minister also said 133 cases have recovered, bringing the total of recoveries to 141,806.

 

There are currently 833 active cases in the country, with 11 receiving treatment at hospitals and 822 undergoing home self-isolation.

 

Meanwhile, some 1,708 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to children aged five to 11, said Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar in the daily press conference on Sunday.

 

He added that as of May 7, 57.2 per cent of children in the age group had been inoculated against the virus, while 8.3 per cent of them had received the second dose.

 

The minister also said the booster rate in the Sultanate is 66.3 per cent.
