Brunei Darussalam recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases in a single day with 4,095 new cases on Sunday

Brunei Darussalam recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases in a single day with 4,095 new cases on Sunday, detected through 3,498 antigen rapid test (ART) screenings and 597 reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests.

 

This brings the number of active cases in the Sultanate to 29,905. A total 3,896 laboratory tests were carried out.

 

Meanwhile, four COVID-19 fatalities were recorded. Three were non-COVID related, while the other is being investigated. This brings the total fatalities of COVID-19 cases to 125.

 

The Ministry of Health (MoH) statement issued on Sunday also stated that eight cases are in Category 4 requiring oxygen assistance and under close observation, while six are in Category 5, requiring artificial ventilation assistance at the intensive care unit.

 

A total of 2,490 cases have recovered, bringing the number of recoveries to 33,512. The bed occupancy rate at isolation centres nationwide is 11.7 per cent.

 

As of February 24, 95 per cent of the populace had received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 94.2 per cent had received two doses. Meanwhile, 54.4 per cent had received the booster shots.
