A call was made to include door-to-door postal delivery service to ease congestion at the Mail Processing Centre (MPC) during the 20th session of the Legislative Council (LegCo) meeting on Thursday.
LegCo member Yang Berhormat Zainol bin Mohamed added that such a service would not only improve the efficiency of postal service but also create job opportunities.
Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha in response said the processes of the MPC are currently being studied with a goal of streamlining the back-end system. At present, he said, the centre can only process mail from abroad after it has touched down on the Sultanate.
