The employee, who whished to remain anonymous told the Borneo Bulletin, “I received a message late Tuesday afternoon from a scammer pretending to be the general manager of the company where I work.
“The number was an overseas number and had my general manager’s picture for the profile picture. Since the general manager is a foreigner, I thought it was her overseas contact number. The scammer knew my name and addressed me correctly in the message.”
She added, “The scammer posing as the general manager requested me to purchase 10 iTunes cards urgently as gifts to other executives as she was busy at a meeting.
