His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, visited the Jurong Town Corporation (JTC) Summit in Singapore yesterday.

His Royal Highness was greeted by Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong.

His Royal Highness then proceeded to the Exhibition Board on Punggol Digital District for a briefing followed by a demonstration of the facial payment system and the Open Digital Platform.

The briefing explained how Punggol Digital District (PDD) combines the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) campus and JTC’s Business Park to create Singapore’s first smart district as well as supporting the key digital economy sectors and serve as a green and inclusive lifestyle hub.

His Royal Highness then toured ‘The Makerspace’ before attending a briefing session focusing on JTC’s digitalisation and sustainability initiatives, particularly the development of the PPD such as the integration of digital technologies across the entire built environment and its goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, through the use of smart building technologies and proactive design strategies.

Before concluding the visit, His Royal Highness participated in a group photograph session.

Established on June 1, 1968, JTC is a statutory board under Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry. It supports the growth of new industries and enterprises in the city state.

As the government agency responsible for Singapore’s industrial progress, JTC places emphasis on developing resilient industries.

VISIT TO TEMASEK POLYTECHNIC

His Royal Highness also visited the Temasek Polytechnic at Tampines Avenue 1 yesterday.
His Royal Highness was greeted by Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations Grace Fu.

His Royal Highness first proceeded to the Temasek Polytechnic Aquaculture Innovation Centre (AIC) and participated in laboratory activities such as parasite screening; feed palletising and feed stability testing.

His Royal Highness continued the visit to the Centre for Research and Opportunities in Plant Science (CROPS), which aims to increase urban farming productivity and sustainability with in two key areas, namely plant biotechnology and nutraceuticals.

His Royal Highness proceeded to visit the Temasek Gallery Lounge and participated in sample testing activities and conducted health checks on microorganisms and oysters.

Before concluding the visit, His Royal Highness participated in a group photograph session.
The AIC is Singapore’s first centre of innovation, operating on a collaborative consortium model.

AIC supports and develops small and medium-sized enterprises in the aquaculture industry by enhancing farming productivity, identifying emerging technologies and facilitating sustainable growth.
