Brunei Darussalam graced the 31st Civil Service Day celebration on Monday at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas.

Also present were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

In his welcoming remarks, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof highlighted the theme of this year’s Public Service Day, emphasising the importance of leadership and commitment in public service.

His Majesty then delivered a titah, addressing the nation’s public servants, praising their dedication while outlining future priorities for Brunei’s civil service. This was followed by the launch of a special commemorative book titled “Jasawan Perkhidmatan Awam: Meneruskan Legasi Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien III Tokoh Jasawan Negara”, which honours the legacy of Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien III.

Attendees were treated to a video presentation showcasing the content of the commemorative book and a special syair performance, highlighting Brunei’s constitution and its enduring values.

One of the key highlights of the day was the awards ceremony. His Majesty presented several prestigious awards to outstanding civil servants, including recipients of the Public Service Sector Performance Grading Program (3PSA), Prime Innovation Award (AIP), and Excellent Public Service Employee Award (APCPA) for divisions II, III, IV, and V. The special Public Service Merit Award (AKB2PA) for Division V was also presented upon select individuals.

His Majesty and the member of the royal family were later invited for a group photo session with the award recipients and the authors of the special commemorative book. The monarch also signed the memory book and received a pesambah.

The Public Service Day continues to serve as a platform for recognising the hard work and contributions of Brunei’s civil servants in furthering national progress. – FADLEY FAISAL
