His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam will leave for Jakarta, Indonesia to attend the inauguration ceremony of the 8th Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto; and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, on October 20.

His Majesty last met with the Indonesian president during his visit to Brunei Darussalam on September 5 as Indonesian Minister of Defence and President-Elect.

The inauguration will mark the start of the five-year term of Prabowo Subianto as Indonesian President and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as Vice President.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in January 1984, Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia have enjoyed close and friendly relations as well as bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade and investment, defence, education, health, labour and people-to-people exchanges.

The two countries also work closely through regional and international cooperation including ASEAN, APEC, OIC and BIMP-EAGA.
