Brunei Darussalam national football team bounced back from their previous loss after recording their first win in the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 Qualifiers against Bhutan 2-1, at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas on Tuesday night.
Brunei netted the first goal in the 29th minute from Nazirrudin Ismail after he received a strong pass from Mohammad Alinur Rashimy.
In the second half, Bhutan scored an own goal in the 63-minute mark, extending Brunei’s lead.
Bhutan tried to come back with a goal through Dawa Tshering Jr in stoppage time, but Brunei tightened their defensive line to hold on to the win.
Previously, Bhutan had a goalless draw against Yemen at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu, Bhutan, while Brunei suffered a disappointing 5-0 loss against Lebanon in Qatar. – Daniel Lim
