Alu Alu Rangers netted 14 points against other competing teams to secure the title as the champion in the Futsal El Klasiku Mix & Match Tournament at the Multi-purpose hall of the Mumong Sports Complex on Saturday.

The tournament, organised by the Village Consultative Council of Kampong Pandan ‘C’, saw five teams competing, which included Alu Alu Rangers, Bekalang Busters, Empurau Liar, Buntal Bombers and Sembilang Rovers. The teams competed in a league format, with teams going up against each other in several round robin matches.

Alu Alu Rangers secured 14 points at the end, followed closely by Belakang Busters and Empurau Liar, with a total point score of 12 and 11. Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Mohammad bin Abdullah @ Lim Swee Ann, who is also Village Head of Kampong Bukit Sawat, attending the closing ceremony, was welcomed by Acting Head of Kampong Pandan ‘C’ Abdul Faiz Ariffin bin Haji Mohammad.

Several special awards were also handed to outstanding teams and players of the competition.

Bekalang Busters received the Fair Play award for their performance, while Nazirul Faiq bin Adeni received the Casillas Trophy, representing the tournament’s best goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, the El Fenomeno Trophy, which acknowledges the tournament’s top scorer, went to Akmal bin Akip, while Md Fazney Khan bin Asmah Khan received the Most Valuable Player (MVP) Trophy. – Daniel Lim
