SEOUL (ANN/THE KOREA HERALD) – A short video claiming to show a live-action remake of the popular series “K-pop Demon Hunters” went viral on Thursday, only for fans to discover it was entirely AI-generated.
The 35-second clip, titled “K-pop Demon Hunters film leaks,” spread rapidly across platforms such as YouTube and TikTok. In the video, actors appeared to prepare for a shoot, interacting with staff on set, and closely resembled characters from the fictional girl group Huntrix—Rumi, Zoey, and Mira—as well as Jin-woo and Mystery from Saja Boys.
By Friday noon, the clip had garnered over 2.6 million views. It was later revealed that the footage was created using AI by Fantasoner, a YouTube channel with more than 80,000 subscribers that produces all content digitally.
Fans reacted with shock and amazement, leaving comments such as, “It’s so realistic it’s scary,” and “I thought Netflix was really filming a live-action version.” Fantasoner has produced similar projects before, including an AI-generated adaptation of the Japanese animated classic “Howl’s Moving Castle.”
While many viewers praised the realism of the videos, local tech experts cautioned about the ethical implications of hyper-realistic AI content. They stressed the need for clear labeling and stronger guidelines to avoid public confusion and to protect original creators.
