Brunei Darussalam celebrates teachers with a Teacher’s Day celebration on September 23 annually.
This celebration also serves to elevate the teaching profession, which significantly contributes to the development of the nation’s human capacity.
This year, the peak of Teacher’s Day Celebration was held yesterday at the Plenary Hall, International Convention Centre (ICC), and on the sidelines of the celebration was an exhibition in conjunction with the 35th Teacher’s Day Celebration at the lobby of ICC.
The theme of this year’s exhibition ‘The Future of Teaching: Sustainability in Education’, with the concept focusing on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Green Education Plan, involving students from primary and secondary schools, vocational and technical institutions, as well as higher education.
It comprises two sections aligned with this year’s theme, the centrepiece section and exhibition section. The centrepiece section showcased excerpts from His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s titah and poetry (syair) of Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam.
The exhibition section featured the various key roles at all levels, from the primary to higher education, in implementing initiatives towards Educational Sustainability, in support of ESD and the Green Education Plan of the Ministry of Education.
The exhibition was officiated by His Majesty after consenting to launch the Generative AI Guidebook for Education, a guidebook outlining how artificial intelligence (AI) can reinforce teaching, learning, and educational administration.
This guide has been developed based on the insights of local educators, in alignment with national strategies, and guided by global best practices and also provides practical tools and examples that can be readily applied by educational institutions.
The guidebook aims to ensure that Brunei Darussalam’s education system remains prepared for future challenges in an ethical, resilient, and upholding the identity of the nation. – Lyna Mohamad
