DPMM FC head coach Jamie McAllister was left frustrated on Monday night after his side slumped to a 4–0 defeat against Kuala Lumpur City FC in the Malaysia Super League (MSL) at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.
The Scottish coach admitted he was “speechless” at the manner of the loss, citing repeated individual mistakes as the main reason behind the disappointing result.
“I don’t know what to say, I feel so frustrated,” McAllister said in the post-match press conference. “It’s the same every week – too many mistakes. We played well in the first half and were in control, but we conceded a very childish goal and went behind.
“In the second half we had possession and looked evenly matched, but we gave the ball away too easily and they punished us. The same happened for the third and fourth goals. There are no excuses, the players need to make better decisions and cut out these mistakes.”
McAllister dismissed suggestions that the team were crumbling under pressure, insisting the problem lay in the standard of the league.
“I don’t think they are under immense pressure. This is just the level of the league – if you make silly mistakes, you get punished. The players are working hard in training and giving everything in matches, but it comes down to individuals and we must keep improving.”
