The first 10 days of the month of Zulhijjah are regarded as among the most special days in Islam, as it is a time to increase acts of worship such as zikir, voluntary fasting, Al-Quran recitation, giving charity, and performing the korban, said Assistant Religious Officer at the Belait District Dakwah Branch Office, Islamic Da’wah Centre, Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Abdul Khaliq bin Kamree in his religious talk ‘Embracing the Virtues of the Month of Zulhijjah’ in conjunction with the 229th Munajat Night on Saturday.

Abdul Khaliq also highlighted the story of Prophet Ibrahim (pbuh) and his son Prophet Ismail (pbuh), describing the story as a great example in appreciating the values of obedience and sacrifice in fulfilling the commands of Allah the Almighty.

He added, this event symbolises sincerity, steadfast faith and great sacrifice in the life of a Muslim. Hence, Muslims are encouraged to seize the blessings of Zulhijjah by increasing good deeds, strengthening faith, improving morals, and fostering stronger relationships among one another, in line with Islamic teachings in nurturing a pious, united, and competitive society.

The programme commenced with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah, led by Penghulu of Mukim Seria Mohammad Zairul Halfi bin Talip, broadcast live from the Skim Tanah Kurnia Rakyat Jati Lorong 3 Selatan, Seria Mosque.

This was followed by a mass recitation of Surah Al-Mulk, led by Mohammad Nur Syakirin bin Ahmad Mahmud, a youth from the same mosque. Imam of the mosque Mohd Shahirwandy bin Samsudin recited Doa Munajat.

Following the tazkirah, the programme continued with the recitation of Selawat Tafrijiyyah, led by Alhadi bin Zainal Abidin, while Doa Allah Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam was recited by bilal of the mosque Mustaqim bin Haji Mustafa.

Members of mosque takmir committee, youth and congregants from Skim Tanah Kurnia Rakyat Jati Lorong 3 Selatan, Seria Mosque, as well as participants from several mosques, suraus and religious halls nationwide joined. MoRA officers and staff also participated, along with individuals who joined virtually. – Lyna Mohamad
