In conjunction with the celebration of Hari Raya Aidiladha, Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (Perbadanan TAIB) Group of Companies, comprising its subsidiaries Insurans Islam TAIB Holdings Sdn Bhd (IITHSB), Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd, and TAIB Filling Station Sdn Bhd, yesterday organised a Korban distribution ceremony at Kampong Sungai Besar Mosque along Jalan Kota Batu.

The ceremony formed part of the Perbadanan TAIB Group of Companies annual religious and community initiatives aimed at fostering compassion, strengthening community relations, and promoting the values of care, generosity, and social responsibility in line with Islamic teachings.

Coordinating Minister for National Security, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, in his capacity as Chairman of Perbadanan TAIB’s Board of Directors, was the guest of honour.

Advisor of Perbadanan TAIB’s Board of Directors Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, alongside members of the Board of Directors of Perbadanan TAIB Group of Companies and members of the Syariah Advisory Committees of Perbadanan TAIB and IITHSB were also in attendance.

The gathering also included Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Awang Lawi bin Haji Lamat as the Acting Penghulu of Mukim Kianggeh and Village Head of Kampong Subok, the Penghulu of Mukim Kota Batu, and the village heads of Kampong Sungai Besar, Kampong Serdang, and Kampong Sungai Belukut.

They were joined by the Advisor of the Takmir Committee of Kampong Sungai Besar Mosque, invited guests, officers and staff of the Perbadanan TAIB Group of Companies, as well as residents from the surrounding villages. The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of Korban meat to 100 recipients comprising less fortunate families from the Mukim Kota Batu area, particularly from Kampong Menunggol, Kampong Sungai Besar, Kampong Serdang, and Kampong Sungai Belukut.

The Korban meat was presented to the male recipients by the guest of honour, while the female recipients received their contributions from Managing Director of Perbadanan TAIB Datin Hajah Hasnah binti Haji Ibrahim.

The ceremony concluded with the recitation of a Doa Selamat led by Head Imam of Kampong Sungai Besar Mosque Muhammad Hazman bin Mohd Hairol Azme. Prior to the distribution ceremony, the slaughtering activity was carried out on May 30, 2026, during the Tashriq days following Hari Raya Aidiladha.

Nine buffaloes were sacrificed under the Perbadanan TAIB Group of Companies’ Korban initiative. Of these, two buffaloes were contributed by members of the board of directors, management, staff, and their family members who participated in the Korban, while the remaining seven buffaloes were contributed by the Perbadanan TAIB Group of Companies.

The Korban meat was subsequently distributed to the recipients, invited guests and employees. – James Kon
