Two foreign nationals were detained for alleged immigration offences during an enforcement operation targeting a food canteen in Mukim Gadong ‘B’, the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) said.

The operation, known as Operasi Kakas 60/2026, was conducted by the department’s Law Enforcement Division in Bandar Seri Begawan.

A total of 13 foreign nationals were inspected during the operation. Two individuals were subsequently detained and brought to the Law Enforcement Division for further investigation.

According to the department, one foreign national is suspected of committing an offence under Regulation 9(4) of the Immigration Regulations, Chapter 17, for allegedly working while holding a visit pass.

Another foreign national is suspected of violating Regulation 15(3) of the Immigration Regulations, Chapter 17, by working in a position that did not correspond with the employment designation stated in the passport. The individual is also alleged to have failed to produce valid documents as required under Section 55(4)(a)(b)(c) of the Immigration Act, Chapter 17.

The department reminded the public, particularly employers, to ensure that their workers’ passes remain valid at all times and that foreign employees work only in positions approved and stated in their passports.

The reminder follows continued enforcement efforts by the department to ensure compliance with immigration laws and regulations.

Members of the public with information on immigration-related offences may contact the Law Enforcement Division hotline at 8734888 or 8753888 in Bandar Seri Begawan, or 8984111 in Kuala Belait.
