NEW YORK (ANN/THE KOREA HERALD) – Blackpink member Jennie has reached a significant milestone in the United States music market after topping one of Billboard’s key radio charts with her collaboration on a remix of Tame Impala’s “Dracula”.
According to Forbes, the remix climbed to No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult Pop Airplay chart this week, making Jennie only the second K-pop-related artist to achieve the feat.
The chart measures weekly airplay on adult pop radio stations across the United States and has traditionally been a difficult platform for K-pop acts to break into, despite the genre’s global commercial success.
The first K-pop-related song to top the chart was “Golden”, the theme song from Netflix’s animated film “KPop Demon Hunters”, performed by Korean American singer-songwriters Ejae, Rei Ami and Audrey Nuna. The track reached the summit earlier this year.
Originally released by Australian musician Tame Impala as a solo single in October, “Dracula” received renewed attention after Jennie joined a remix issued in February.
The collaboration gained momentum online through short-form video platforms before expanding its reach to mainstream US radio.
The song’s popularity has also translated into strong performances across Billboard’s rankings. It currently leads seven charts, including Pop Airplay, Adult Pop Airplay, Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, Hot Rock Songs, Hot Alternative Songs, Hot Dance/Electronic Songs and Dance Streaming Songs.
The achievement marks another milestone for Jennie as K-pop artists continue to strengthen their presence in the US music industry beyond streaming and album sales, with mainstream radio increasingly recognising the genre’s crossover appeal.
