Police arrest man over string of vandalism cases in Kuala Belait

The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) has arrested a 55-year-old local man in connection with a series of property damage incidents reported at several locations around Kuala Belait

According to the RBPF, 10 police reports have been lodged with the Kuala Belait Police Station involving vandalism in Pandan 4, Jalan Bunga Simpur, Jalan Pretty, Jalan Bunga Raya, Jalan Bunga Tanjung and Jalan Bunga Rambai.

Preliminary investigations led to the arrest of the suspect, who is also believed to be involved in a separate police report concerning an assault case.

The RBPF said the suspect is currently receiving treatment at the Mental Health Unit of Suri Seri Begawan Hospital while investigations continue.

The police have urged members of the public whose property may have been damaged or who believe they may have been affected by incidents linked to the suspect to come forward and lodge reports at the Kuala Belait Police Station to assist with the investigation.

The RBPF also advised the public to remain vigilant and take appropriate measures to safeguard themselves and their property.

Homeowners and business operators are encouraged to install closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems at their premises as a preventive security measure and to assist police investigations should any untoward incidents occur.

The police expressed appreciation for the public’s cooperation in providing information to support efforts to maintain peace, security and the well-being of the community.
