A total of 82.6 per cent of children aged five to 11 have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine with 111 inoculated on Monday, while 58.8 per cent have received the second dose of the vaccine.

 

Meanwhile, 71.2 per cent of the total populace have been boosted, said Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at the daily press conference on Tuesday.

 

Three-hundred and eighty new COVID-19 cases were reported on Tuesday – 377 from antigen rapid test (ART) screenings and three from 361 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours. The total number of confirmed cases in the Sultanate stands at 151,161.

 

No COVID-related fatalities were reported in the past 24 hours and there are no cases in Category 5 requiring intensive care treatment, while two cases in Category 4 require respiratory assistance and are under close monitoring.

 

The minister also shared that 99 cases recovered on Tuesday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 148,384.

 

The Sultanate has 2,554 active cases where eight are receiving treatment at hospitals, and 2,546 undergoing home isolation.

 

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin also attended the press conference.
