Large crowds flocked to the fields of Sungai Mau Recreational Park where the fourth Tamu Gayo Sungai Mau returned to the site on Sunday.
Organised by the Mukim Bukit Sawat Consultative Council (MPM Bukit Sawat), this year’s Tamu Gayo featured booths from local entrepreneurs of One Village, One Product (1K1P) selling locally-made goods.
Activities were also lined up as part of the Tamu Gayo experience.
Kampong Bukit Sawat Village Head Muhammad bin Abdullah said the reception for this year’s Tamu Gayo was exceptional, after the activities organised by the MPM Bukit Sawat and other mukim and village consultative councils (MPMK), were put on hold due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
“With the easing of restrictions, we were finally able to organise Tamu Gayo again,” he said.
With over 30 booths participating, the village head also pointed out the encouraging reception among entrepreneurs and villages with 1K1P.
The MPM Bukit Sawat also conducted colouring and cooking contests on the side.
Muhammad noted that the MPM Bukit Sawat is looking forward to conduct more activities in the mukim.
“Some of the activities include Bukit Sawat Carnival in August and Festa Sungai in September,” he said.
